See Hearts have put all there players up for sale?Got some good young midfield players like Holt and Robinson. And a young left back called McHattie that just broke into the first team this year. And Paterson looks really good, can play up front or right back. For me he is just as good as Tony Watt at Celtic, will be a Scotland international soon. If he gets the right move away, would do well in the championship. Would score goals he is still learning though. Could be as good as Russell in another season.

Walker is another good young midfielder, that Paterson can play in midfield to. Good player maybe Coyle might take him to Wigan?

More sweaty socks on the cheap

With most football clubs outside the Prem strugging to make ends meet, I think we'll be lucky to get our money back for Fielding, Robinson, Connor, Ledgzins etc. unless they go upwards. Hope NC doesn't let them go for peanuts though.

Celtic fan in peace:

Russell is a great signing for your team.
it will be interesting to see how he gets on, will follow with interest.

Good luck

Russell will sign for Celtic next week who can blame him joining one of the worlds biggest clubs

Please not, i'm so nervous can't wait untill we sign him!

Why Why Why are Derby fans getting excited about Johnny Russell and blowing your entire transfer budget on a player from a a league that is to the standard of league 1 and completely unproven at this level.

A risky signing.

It may pay off.
It may not.

It's only 750k (ish), not our whole transfer budget!

Plus he'll win us the league. We are better than any other championship team at the moment in my opinion. RAMS

Johnny Russell is Celtic daft so I think if they make an offer that's where he will go!

With no disrespect intended to Derby County the player is better than mid table Championship! I think its a long shot for Derby!

Russell is the best prospect to come out of Scotland for years, better than Steven Fletcher in my opinion and I don't think Celtic will risk losing a talent like him for the kind of fee that's being talked about.

This is obviously just an opinion!

Celtic who?

By coming to Derby, he can prove himself in a more challenging league with the possibiblity of playing in the PL. No disrespect to Celtic but you can't offer that.

When will and how will he play in the premier league though?

If Derby get promoted.

Nothing risky about the Russell signing, look how many ex SPL players are ripping up the championship. It shows how much some people follow the Scottish game, to come out with such rubbish. Plenty of quality players have moved down there and become key players for there clubs. And most teams that go up each year, all have former SPL players in there teams. And some of these players were actually rubbish in Scotland, fringe players at the Auld firm. Guys like Crainey, Adam, Miller. Pearson, Beattie, Dobbie, Hoivelt, Fox spring to mind. Even Livingston players like Hoolahan, Dorrans, Snodgrass did well. And I forgot about Burke, who got 13 goals and most assists in the championship last year. Another guy that could not get a game at Rangers.

With Sam Rush stating that Derby County will be spending more money this summer than last. Rams fans can expect more than 1.5 million this summer. Last season spending totalled around that figure with key expenditure being

Sammon 1. 2 m
Keogh 1. 1 m
Freeman 250k
Jacobs 200k
Coutts 150k

And revenue

Shackell 1. 2 m
Davies 750k

So far Derby County have spent:

Free - Lee Grant
Free - Chris Martin

? £0, so expect to see 2 big transfers this summer.

The first will be Johnny Russell or James Vaughan for around 1 million. Craig Forsyth will also sign for around 200k.

The second big transfer will depend on who Nigel Clough has already managed to bring in. A Centre Half at the moment looks likely with uncertainty surrounding whether Captain Shuan Barker will ever play again let alone come back before January like predicted. Time will tell but a big centre half could be the difference for promotion for the rams this season.

Promotion? are you serious?

Derby are and will be a mid table championship team for at least another 3 years. You don't have enough talent

Haha, not enough talent! We have one of the best academy's in the league and have multiple players wanted by premier league clubs!

So you said last season but you finished 12th. The championship is a tough league you know

Youve got Sammon and Coutts. No one else in the championship can compete with them?
